Entry to Namtso Lake

At about 17,000 feet (5190m) there was little oxygen but the view was incredible.

Prayer Flags!

Rocky Hill

The rocky hill rises to over 16,000 feet! The 500 foot climb was quite tough. We stopped every few steps to admire the view :-)!

Rock Pillars

The white highlights on the rock are actually prayer flags thrown up there.

View Down the Hill

The structures at the upper right are the overnight accommodations.

Flying Flags

The strong wind lifted these strands of flags hight in the sky.

Securing Flags

The long strands of flags are held under rocks.

Night Sky!!!

The night sky at Lake Namtso was one of the most awe inspiring things we saw during the trip. The stars in the sky were so bright that it was impossible to identify any single constellation! The brighter white area to the right of center was the Milky Way. The stars are not sharp in the image because they moved during the 30 second exposure.
