Brandenburger Torr
Fireworks can be seen celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Brandenburg
Gate.
Kaiser Wilhelm Gedachtniskirche
The Emperor Wilhelm Memorial Church was built in 1892 and damaged during
World War II. It was left in it's damaged state as a reminder of the war.
French Cathedral
The French Cathedral can be found on the Platz der Akademie on the eastern
side of where the wall was.
Art in Berlin
An abstract sculpture (art?) is used to frame the East Berlin television
tower.
Ku'damm by Night
The Kurfurstendamm is active late into the night. Colorful lights enhance
a the atnosphere. Unfortunately this building had been torn down when
I visited again in August 2001.
East Side Gallery
One of the many murals to be found painted on the East Side Gallery. This
painting on a section of the Berlin Wall is titled "Please let us survive
this deadly embrace".

teeming with activity.
Schloss Charlottenburg
Charlottenburg Palace was build as a small country house for Electress
Sophie Charlotte who later became the first Queen of Prussia.

A great place to hang out and people watch on the Ku'dam.
Berlin Dom
The Berlin Cathedral with the television tower in the background.
Through the Wall
Here's a glimpse of the "no-man's land" that existed between the East
and West sides of the Berlin Wall.
Rathaus
City hall in old 'East' Berlin.
Reichstag
This was the German Parlament Building before World War II and is again
now. This picture was taken in 1991. The Reichstag now has a large glass
dome on the top.
Spandau Citadel
Dating back to the 16th century, the Spandau Citadel is an imposing fortress.
Greek Orthodox Church
This beautiful little church is located on Hohenzollerndamm.
Siegessaule
The Victory Column commemorates the three victorious wars of 1864 against
Denmark, 1866 against Austria and 1870-71 against France.
Checkpoint Charlie
This was one of the crossing points between East and West when Berlin
was a divided city. It was the only one that could be used by non-Germans.

Castle on Pfaueninsel
Pfauenisel (Peakok Island) is a beautiful little island in the Wannsee.
This was the summer residence of Wilhelmine Enke who was the mistress
of King Fredrick William II.

This little death trap was quite common in the former East. They were
basically cardboard with two-cycle engines!

It makes finding things much easier than merely having a bunch of
words and a map.
